Stakeholders are nearing the final steps to complete the sale of the Oakland Coliseum complex, with developers targeting a close no later than December 31. Jim Reynolds, Founder, Chair, and CEO of Chicago-based Loop Capital—which partnered with the African American Sports and Entertainment Group (AASEG) to acquire the property—joined KTVU to share details on the $3 billion to $5 billion, multi-phase project. Reynolds called the site one of the most attractive parcels of land in the country and outlined a 10-to-15-year vision for the area. Initial plans include handing arena operations over to Oak View Group (OVG) in partnership with Live Nation, followed by multi-phase developments featuring housing, hotels, retail, and office space. Decisions regarding the future or potential repurposing of the original stadium remain under evaluation, with possibilities including hosting soccer, rugby, or cricket.
